Digital Asset Management
Tauranga City Council
Archiving imagery for ease of future usageĀ
Tauranga City Council has a rich visual history that has been captured in both a professional and amateur fashion.
Due to the pace and diverse priorities that the council has, properly archiving images and making them accessible to council staff has at times proven difficult.
I was tasked with scoping, procuring and setting up a platform that would make the images easily accessible to internal teams.
We landed on a SharePoint solution which fitted within the current Tauranga City Council digital framework (tech stack.)
Responsibilities:
Understanding the current image set to bring it into a Digital Asset Management Platform.
Scoping multiple Digital Library platforms to understand what would work best for council and fit the IT and budget requirements.
Devising workflow within the communications team for new images. From Photoshoots, Talent Release Forms to uploading to the Sharepoint site.
Devise quick start guides and workshops for the team to understand the process to access, sign off and publish images in a timely manner.
Results:
Deriving value from historic images and videos for future campaigns.
Asset registry of every image, so we know where and when it was used.
Staff can quickly access images and get clearance for usage.
